Refurbished Window Dedication Article

This article appeared in The Sachem, a Caledonia weekly newspaper, on Thursday, September 5, 2019. This article was to inform people that they were invited to gather at Unity Church on the second Sunday in September in 2019 at 2:30 pm to celebrate the dedication of the recently refurbished stained-glass windows. Many heritage families donated the money to have a window refurbished in their family's memory.

2021 Unity Church & Cemetery Newsletter

In 2021, due to concerns about Covid-19 and variants, a special newsletter was mailed in place of the annual service.

Dr. Robert Hardie Offering Plate

Dr. Robert Hardie, medical missionary, went to Korea in the late 1800s. He and his family had lived in the solid brick house at the corner of Hwy. 6 and Unity Road. They attended Unity Church. He was well liked in Korea where he served as a missionary. The Women’s Missionary Society (W.M.S.) was formed in 1895 at Unity Church. In 1913, the brass offering plate was given to the Unity W.M.S. by the Hardies. It was used for the offering from that time until the group joined Grace United Church ladies in the 1990s. Joan Bates was the last treasurer of the Unity U.C.W. (W.M.S. became United Church Women in 1962). Ora Howley had been the previous treasurer. Each treasurer guarded the plate.

Treasurer's Report from 1961

This is the last year of the Unity Women's Auxiliary. This report was written by Coral Parke, treasurer. The ladies then formed the Unity Unit of the UCW through Grace United Church. This continued until 1994 when the ladies quit the Unity Unit and joined the Thursday afternoon Unit at Grace United Church instead.
